LBTQ women are at higher risk of uterine, breast, cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. The following reasons contribute to this risk:

  • LBTQ women have traditionally been less likely to bear children. Hormones released during pregnancy and breastfeeding protect women against breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancers.
  • LBTQ women have higher rates of alcohol abuse, poor nutrition, and obesity. These factors may increase the risk of breast, endometrial, ovarian, and other cancers.
  • LBTQ women may feel uncomfortable visiting a doctor for routine screenings, such as a Pap test, which can prevent or detect cervical cancer.

Detecting cancers in earlier stages is very important & can save your life. What you can do to protect yourself:
