LBTQ women are at higher risk of uterine, breast, cervical, endometrial, and ovarian cancers. The following reasons contribute to this risk:

LBTQ women have traditionally been less likely to bear children. Hormones released during pregnancy and breastfeeding protect women against breast, endometrial, and ovarian cancers.
LBTQ women have higher rates of alcohol abuse, poor nutrition, and obesity. These factors may increase the risk of breast, endometrial, ovarian, and other cancers.
LBTQ women may feel uncomfortable visiting a doctor for routine screenings, such as a Pap test, which can prevent or detect cervical cancer.
