Heart disease
May 19, 2008

Heart disease is the number one killer of most women. Factors that raise women’s risk for heart disease are:

  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Stress
  • Uncontrollable factors: aging, family health history, etc.
These factors are high among the LBTQ members. The more intense the factors, the greater the chance that heart disease will develop.

What you can do to prevent cardiovascular (heart) diseases:

  • Exercise regularly
  • Maintain a low cholesterol level & healthy balanced diet
  • Regularly check your blood pressure
  • Keep diabetes under control
  • Quit smoking
  • Manage consistent stress
