Creative Arts Workshop
Six Meem members participated in a Creative Arts workshop at the Womyn House on Sunday, August 31, organized by one of our therapists. The participants expressed themselves through drawings, paintings, clay sculptures, crafts, and other artistic media.

First Meem Mother Visits the House!
Yep! We never thought it would happen in our first year, but we were delighted to host a Meem member's mother in our Womyn House in August. She met with her daughter's friends at Meem and got to know more about our activities. Her acceptance and love towards her lesbian daughter were an inspiration to everyone. Ok, so it's one mother out of 254, but it's a start!

New Transgender Support
If you identify as a transgender individual or if you have any personal or general questions about your gender identity, you can now talk directly to a Lebanese Female-to-Male transperson activist by sending an email to trans@meemgroup.org. All emails and inquiries will be handled with complete confidentiality.

Meem attends the CSBR Sexuality Training Institute in Malaysia
Women for Women's Human Rights in Turkey invited a Meem member to participate in a training institute on gender and sexuality held in Malaysia this past month. The training was organized by the Coalition for Sexual and Bodily Rights in Muslim Socities. Meem gave a presentation about Arab lesbians and networked with various Arab and South East Asian groups working on gender equality and sexual rights.

Danish Youth Group Visits Womyn House
Meem was happy to welcome 18 young men and women from Denmark touring Lebanon and Syria and getting to know local traditions and cultures. The very cool visitors enjoyed a tour of the House and had a discussion with Meem members about the situation of LGBT in Lebanon. Their project is called Next Stop and you can read more about it here.

Meet Our New House Fishies: Mee and M
Mee (left) and M (right) are the latest addition to our Womyn House, a gift from one of our members on Meem's birthday. We love our queer fishies and they love us. Except, well, when our volunteers forget to feed them.
