Helem - Lebanese Protection for LGBT

Outreach Program
Last Updated: September 3, 2008

Meem uses a variety of methods to reach out to lesbians in different regions in Lebanon. Because homosexuality is widely considered immoral, we are limited in the advertising we can do for Meem. At the same time, we want to find the tens of thousands LBTQ women in Lebanon and help them find us. So we use different strategies that include:

  • Making this website easily findable in search engines

  • A Meem profile on GaydarGirls, MySpace, and Facebook

  • Word of mouth

  • Outreach cards that our members distribute in gay-friendly places and to women they meet whom they suspect to be lesbians, bisexuals, questioning, or transgender persons. We don't mention anything about homosexuality on the cards, so that they're safe to give out and receive. Here's what they look like:

So if you got here because someone gave you a card and you found this website useful, excellent! Let us know by contacting us.
