How You Can Support Us
September 17, 2007

► send an encouraging email
A few kind words can go a long way. Never underestimate the power of moral support. Moral support is what got us here. There are a lot of people who are against us and every letter of encouragement helps. So send us an email to meem@meemgroup.org and let us know you are rooting for us. We share all these emails with our members at meetings and will be posting some of them here on our website.

► offer a direct service
We're always up for freebies. Whatever profession you are in, we can find some way you can help us. Offer your expertise, advice, or skills. Come to our events or to events we endorse.

► help us network
If you are a member of a group or organization you know can support Meem's activities, it helps if you get
in touch. Invite a Meem member to a conference or workshop. Help us collaborate with other activists or groups that can support our work.

Become a Friend of Meem
A Friend of Meem is someone who has made a long-term commitment to support Meem's work on a regular basis. Just send us an email expressing your support and we will get in touch with you and sign you up for our e-newsletter so you can stay up-to-date with our progress and specific calls for help. You can read more about Friends of Meem on a page we will set up soon.

► become an advocate for lesbian rights
We believe in personal rather than public advocacy: the ripple effect. You are in direct contact with tens of people every day. Stand up for lesbian rights in conversations. Stand up for any minority rights. Challenge homophobic or stereotypical remarks. Voice your support for the LGBT struggle.

► tell lesbians you know about Meem
If you know any Arab lesbians who have not yet heard about Meem, send them a link to our website. Our outreach strategy depends primarily on word of mouth. And it works. Help us spread the word. You can be changing lives.

► send us a gift
We are currently compiling lesbian-related books, publications, and DVDs for our library, and we receive most of them as gifts. If you have any material you'd like to send to us, we'll be happy to receive them and coordinate their delivery to us.

► make a donation to a project
If you are eager on making a personal donation to Meem, we are very grateful for your generosity. Choose a project you believe in most: the Safe House, psychological therapy track, member training and capacity-building, research, or documentary. We will tell you more about our projects and the small budgets we need to keep them running.

Whether you choose to take action in one of the above
support methods or simply send us warm wishes from
your heart, we are grateful for every man and woman,
gay or straight, who believes in Meem as a necessary
space in the struggle for human dignity in Lebanon, the
Middle East, and the world. Thank you for clicking on
this page.
